i’ve had the privilege of working with each of these super-talented folks:

Keith Howard,  Design Program Director at IBM Watson

"Bill is a thoughtful, methodical, and detail-oriented user experience designer. I could always count on Bill to deliver great work. What's more, Bill has a unique combination of skills that are difficult to find. I asked him to help in creating a content strategy, and I was very pleased with the extensive work that he did in this capacity. He also demonstrated very strong information architecture skills. Bill was up for any challenge and his versatility made him a very effective designer on my team."

Tom Vaughn, Senior Manager at Amazon Alexa

“I've worked with Bill for nearly 10 years in web project management, and he truly brings a broad skillset and passion to any job. In addition to top notch design skills, he's a very detail-oriented designer. His background as a journalist gives him command over content organization and readability, which helps any web project. Bill excels at complex user-centered design projects, and his sense of humor is a welcome addition to any team. I highly recommend Bill for any design, IA, or content position.”

Joe Dyer, Director of UX Strategy + Insight at projekt202

“Bill is an experienced web professional with a very keen eye for detail, and an uncanny ability to arrive at user centered solutions. Bill is an excellent collaborator and is always open to new ideas, yet quick to point out potential problems based on his years of experience. Bill's wit and mastery of the written word makes him a wonderful addition to any team environment. It was a pleasure working with Bill at USAA.”

Robert H. O’Connell, Ph.D., Lead Web Accessibility Expert at USAA

“I have known Bill professionally for almost two years, during which time he and I collaborated frequently on defining and upholding web design standards as a part of USAA’s Design Governance team.

Bill managed web design standards for the UI Designer Community, a diversified team of about 40 UI designers, developers, and project managers. He published a number of documents, managed assignments and SharePoint publications, and created graphic and UI designs that provided guidance for a broad range of UI designers and their congeners.

Bill contributed significantly to quality assurance in the maturation of the ( Design ) Patterns Library, a vast repository of UI patterns reused by designers in their daily assignments. He is an accomplished graphic designer, having mastered the use of Photoshop and related tools.

In my view, Bill knows and is deeply committed to his personal values and, for that, I count him to be a man of unusual personal integrity. His workmanship quality and day-to-day work ethic are exemplary. He is an expert in and advocate of User-Centered Design and of the guiding principles of web accessibility.

As to matters of education, he shows a level of intelligence, philosophical perception, and self-motivation that I have rarely found among his peers. I have watched Bill work diligently on honing his design skills and knowledge through research, and he has done so consistently.”

Hope Wright, Information Architect at USAA

“Bill Harrison was a pleasure to work with. He is very talented, creative and has a special ability to design creatively. He has a special knack for content as well. His skills give him credibility and his personality makes it easy to respond to his guidance.

“I highly respect Bill. I have come to him many a time for a new set of eyes on a problem and he never fails to help me find a new perspective. His knowledge and experience extend to all aspects of the design of a user experience including information architecture and usability of an interaction.

“The projects that Bill worked, as well as the patterns that he maintained for our library, were usability tested which allowed Bill to provide solid rationale for the designs and interactions.  Testing so many designs over time also made him a valuable resource for providing input on what usability issues may arise with a design in early reviews based on his previous experience with users. He has a thirst for knowledge. He knows so much, but is constantly researching and working to better his understanding of the field in which we work.”

David Bowen,  Product Owner at Shelter Insurance Companies

“Bill is extremely knowledgeable in a wide array of web-oriented disciplines, including interaction design, information architecture and writing and editing. I worked with him closely on the development of USAA's first pattern library, a mammoth job that showed off the breadth and depth of his skills, both professional and interpersonal. He is patient and thorough in his work, and is always available to help and advise those who need it. I heartily recommend Bill.”

Luke Rivera, Digital Product Management / UX Design / Web Development at USAA

“Bill is a very talented and knowledgeable interaction designer and his work is a testament to his abilities. I worked with Bill in both a design and project management capacity. In each role I sought Bill's advice on new treatments or page flows. He has a good eye for design and always has ideas on making a user experience that much better. On top of all this he also has an extensive amount of experience with copy. You couldn't ask for a better combination of skills for an interaction designer.”

Jeffrey Brown, Digital Studio Manager at Deloitte Consulting

“Bill was a key part of our creative services solution delivery program at Deloitte. His work was consistently on-time, high quality and demonstrated a deep understanding of the project objectives. He was a pleasure to work with, a great team player, someone I would be happy to hang out with, and delighted to work with again.”

James Wangemann, Assistant Sports Editor at Austin American-Statesman

“Bill and I began working together in 1997, when he was a one-man staff in charge of the Austin American-Statesman’s Neighbor Sports section. In that role, Bill guided our coverage of youth sports in Austin and Central Texas. He assigned and edited stories, wrote headlines and also worked closely with photographers. I quickly learned that Bill was very skilled in many aspects of journalism and showed both dedication and attentiveness to his work. At the same time, I saw that he was a creative thinker willing to pursue new and better ways of putting together a newspaper.

“Beyond his work with Neighbor Sports, Bill pitched in to help design pages and edit stories for our features department. His versatility also led to shifts on our news desk, where Bill was called on frequently for copy-editing help. In any role, Bill worked quickly and smartly, meeting the urgent deadline demands of daily journalism.

“Bill later joined our sports department’s editing desk on a full-time basis. Again, he skillfully designed pages, edited stories and wrote headlines. His work was much valued, as was his upbeat personality.

“( From 2000–2010 ), Bill has been a correspondent for our newspaper, covering Texas State sports. In that role, Bill has written mostly about football and men’s basketball, but he also has explained difficult issues involving Texas State athletics. Those issues have ranged from NCAA rules violations to Texas State’s decision to attempt the jump to Division I football. His stories have been factually accurate, colorfully written and submitted in a timely manner. In all instances, he has been nothing but cooperative and professional in the give-and-take between reporter and editor.

“I enthusiastically recommend Bill.”

Kevin Hargis, Deputy Editor at Stratfor Enterprises
