magento // content strategy for ecommerce software & docs
Led two audits – design and content – to identify pain points in content management and quality within the Magento ecommerce software platform. Used the findings to drive solutions.
The problem
The Magento developer community champions Magento software for its flexibility and ability to integrate and a variety of features. However, its ease of use has been a hard sell — compared with its competitors — among some developers and especially the merchants who operate the software's frontend Admin panel.
The goal
Completely audit the software's user interface, from design elements to content and error messages, and partner with developers and stakeholders to create a strategy for implementing solutions.
The solution
- Crafted the methodology for the UX team and captured, in both audits, 942 defects across 171 pages.
- Analyzed findings and created a backlog with defects prioritized by category, quantity, and severity.
- User-tested improvements and created epics and stories to be developed through Agile, using Jira.
- Proposed, documented, and coded writing standards and design patterns for contextual help and errors and messaging.
